ELTON JOHN VIDEO ARCHIVE PROJECT

Remastering the Films/Video Tapes

Many tapes were filled with 'drop-outs'/glitches(picture damaged through age). These defects had to be removed/compensated for by using 'front end' technology such as Frame Store when remastering the image at Telecineplc. The image is now pristine throughout every Remaster!

Many old tapes also featured poor colour and contrast. These were regraded at Telecine plc. I found the original 16mm film negative to the 1975 Dodger Stadium Concert. This was regraded to the highest possible standards by BAFTA Craft awardwinner Colour Grader, Vincent Narduzzo at The Machine Room. Your Song (the 'lost' Black and White Pop Promo) was regraded by Martin Sansom at CompletePost.

Concerts such as the 1976 Edinburgh Playhouse 'Solo', Concert, the 1972 Honky ChateauConcert, and, the 1984 Thank You Australia 'Birthday' Concert, which had never been seen in their full unexpurgated versions until now. Additional sequences were edited together from unedited Isolation Camera rolls to enable the entire gig(s) to feature for the very first time. The editing was supervised by Mathew Stonehouse at both Off Line and On Line stages. The editing was done at both Telecine plc andArena Digital, London.

Digital Betacam Master Audio - Channels 1, 2 and 3, 4
